Tragic Smethwick Crash Claims Two Lives, Leaves Two Fighting for Life
Two people died and two suffered life-threatening injuries after a horrific car crash in Smethwick last night. The smash happened when a car slammed into a wall on Oldbury Road just before midnight.
Emergency Services Rush to Scene
West Midlands Ambulance Service received the call at 11:40pm. They dispatched three ambulances, two paramedic officers, a MERIT trauma doctor, a critical care paramedic, and a BASICS emergency doctor straight to the wreckage.
Five Victims Found at the Scene
A service spokeswoman detailed the grim scene:
- Two pedestrians — a man and a teenage boy — were in critical condition but sadly declared dead at the scene despite efforts to save them.
- Two more pedestrians, a woman and a man, suffered life-threatening injuries. They were stabilised on site and rushed to Queen Elizabeth Hospital.
- The car’s driver suffered non-life threatening injuries and was treated and released at the scene.
Emergency crews continue investigations as the community reels from this devastating incident.
