The deadly Bondi Beach terror attack has been revealed as a horrifying family affair. NSW Police Commissioner Mal Lanyon confirmed the two gunmen who slaughtered 16 people were father and son.

24-year-old Naveed Akram remains in hospital with critical injuries under police guard. His 50-year-old father was shot dead by cops at the scene.

Police Raid Homes, Confirm No Third Gunman

After the Hanukkah massacre, police raided two Sydney homes in Campsie and Bonnyrigg Heights. Dozens were injured, including four children in critical condition.

“There were two offenders involved in yesterday’s incident,” said Commissioner Lanyon. “The offenders are a 50-year-old and 24-year-old male who are father and son.”

The father held a firearms licence and had six registered guns. “We recovered six firearms from the scene and the Campsie address,” Lanyon added.

Rising Death Toll and Devastated Community

New South Wales Health Minister Ryan Park confirmed the death toll has climbed to 16, including one child.

“We hope and pray those people get through the next few hours,” said Mr Park about the critically injured children.

The attack struck at the heart of Sydney’s Jewish community during a Hanukkah celebration attended by over 1,000 people.

Hero Bystander and Explosive Threats

Rabbi Eli Schlanger, a British-born father of five, was among the victims. Hero bystander Ahmed Al Ahmed wrestled a gun from one attacker but was shot twice and is now recovering in the hospital.

Several improvised explosive devices were found in a car tied to the dead gunman. Bomb disposal crews are defusing the threat.

Prime Minister Anthony Albanese called the massacre “an act of evil, antisemitism, terrorism.”
