A devastating road traffic collision in Blackthorn, near Bicester in Oxfordshire, has claimed the life of a five-year-old boy after a motorcycle collided with a car he was a passenger in. The incident, which occurred at approximately 2 pm on Sunday, involved a white and orange KTM motorcycle and a black Ford Focus.
Tragically, the young boy, who was seated in the rear of the Ford Focus, succumbed to his injuries at the scene. The rider of the motorcycle, described as a man in his forties, sustained serious injuries and was transported to the John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford for treatment. Additionally, three other individuals, including the 30-year-old female driver of the Ford Focus, a nine-year-old child, and another passenger in the car, were hospitalized with less severe injuries.
Phil Hanham, lead investigator of the Serious Collision Investigation Unit, expressed his condolences to the family of the young victim, stating, “Very sadly, as a result of this collision, a child has died of his injuries. His family are being supported by specially trained family liaison officers, and the thoughts of all of us at Thames Valley Police are with them at this extremely upsetting time.
Hanham urged anyone who witnessed the collision or has relevant dash-cam footage to come forward and assist with the investigation.
