In a sombre court proceeding, 53-year-old Jacqueline Mounsey stood accused of two charges of attempted murder at Carlisle Magistrates’ Court on Saturday. The alleged incidents, which took place on June 10th, have left the city of Carlisle in shock.
The first charge alleges that Ms Mounsey attempted to take the life of a man, while the second relates to an attempt on a young girl’s life. Both victims reportedly sustained stab wounds to their necks, a detail that was briefly outlined by prosecutor Peter Conroy during the hearing.
Ms Mounsey, residing at Whernside in Carlisle, confirmed her identity and personal details in a brief interaction during the five-minute hearing. With pleas not entered at this stage, the case has been adjourned, and Ms Mounsey is set to appear at Carlisle Crown Court for a plea and trial preparation hearing on June 24th.
As no bail application was made, Ms Mounsey has been remanded in custody.
