Fire Breaks Out on A27, Sparks Evening Traffic Chaos
Fire crews rushed to the A27 this evening after a vehicle caught fire, sparking delays on one of Portsmouth’s busiest routes during rush hour.
One Lane Blocked as Firefighters Battle Car Blaze
Eastbound traffic is snarled between the A2030 junction and the A3(M) as one lane remains closed. Firefighters from Cosham and Havant stations were called just after 6pm when the vehicle’s battery began smoking and then caught fire.
The crews used a hosereel to cool the battery before making the vehicle safe, leaving the scene just before 7pm.
No Injuries but Recovery Ongoing
Thankfully, no one was hurt in the blaze. However, traffic is still slow as the damaged vehicle waits to be recovered, adding to the evening rush hour frustration.
