Huge Blaze Erupts in Holborn Tunnel

A massive fire has ripped through an underground utilities tunnel in central London’s Holborn area, choking the street above with thick, black smoke. Nearly 100 firefighters and ten fire engines from Soho, Euston, Shoreditch, Islington, Lambeth, and neighbouring stations scrambled to tackle the inferno.

Emergency Services Swamped With Calls

The London Fire Brigade’s 999 control has received 18 urgent calls about the blaze. Firefighters were seen dousing the fire from above ground as smoke poured into the sky and blanketed the surrounding streets.

Roads Closed Amid Safety Cordons

  • Major roads in central London are shut down due to the fire.
  • A safety cordon is in place to keep the public away from danger.
  • Bus routes have been diverted, causing major disruption.

Firefighter Warns of Prolonged Battle

Station Commander Paul Morgan, on scene, said: “Crews are currently dealing with a fire affecting the electrical cables in an underground tunnel. This is likely to be a protracted incident.” “The incident is causing significant disruption in central London, with multiple road closures and a safety cordon in place. Bus routes have been diverted, and people are advised to avoid the area where possible.”

Londoners are urged to steer clear of the area as crews continue their fierce fight against the blaze.
