A tragic incident unfolded in Ilford in the early hours of Sunday morning (March 17), resulting in the death of a 46-year-old man who was struck by a car in a hit-and-run collision. The Metropolitan Police swiftly launched an investigation, leading to the arrest of two individuals.
The victim was found injured at the junction of Ley Street and Benton Road shortly after midnight. Despite being rushed to the hospital, he succumbed to his injuries shortly thereafter. His next of kin have been informed and are receiving support during this difficult time.
The vehicle involved in the incident, identified as a Range Rover, fled the scene following the collision. However, through diligent efforts by the Met’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit, the car was located at a garage in Ilford. Subsequently, a 28-year-old woman and a 29-year-old man were arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving. Both individuals are currently in custody assisting with the investigation.
