Man Arrested on Suspicion of Rape Following Assault in Ryde

Police have taken a significant step forward in an ongoing investigation after a woman was subjected to a serious sexual assault in Ryde on Saturday night.

Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary were alerted to the distressing incident at approximately 11.20pm prompting a swift and comprehensive response from Police.

Upon arrival, police swiftly secured the area to preserve evidence, with a cordon remaining in place as officers meticulously conducted inquiries to unravel the full scope of the incident.

Following their investigative efforts, a 25-year-old man from Ryde has been apprehended on suspicion of rape. He is currently being held in police custody at Newport Police Station as the investigation progresses.

Amid these developments, officers are providing crucial support to the alleged victim, prioritizing her well-being during this challenging time.
