A man is set to appear in court charged with murder after a stabbing incident in Wembley.
Derek Brown, aged 72 and residing at Cromwell Road, Wembley, appeared in custody at Willesden Magistrates’ Court on Saturday, 23 March. He faces charges of murder, section 18 grievous bodily harm (GBH) with intent, and possession of a bladed article in a public place.
Brown has been remanded in custody and is scheduled to appear at the Old Bailey on Tuesday, 26 March.
The charges stem from an incident on 21 March, when police responded to reports of a stabbing in Cromwell Road, Wembley, at approximately midday.
Tragically, Richard Brathwaite, aged 72, was pronounced dead at the scene. His next of kin have been notified and are receiving support from specialist officers.
A special post-mortem examination conducted on Saturday, 23 March, determined the cause of death to be a stab injury.
During the incident, a woman in her 70s sustained injuries, although they were not life-threatening.
The Metropolitan Police continue their investigation into the circumstances surrounding the stabbing, urging anyone with information to come forward and assist with their inquiries.
