Bomb Threat Panic Sparks Mass School Evacuations Across South England
Around 300 pupils were rushed out of primary schools in Portchester, Bognor, Southampton and Guildford after a string of bogus bomb threats this morning.
Schools Forced to Empty Amid Hoax Scare
At about 10am, staff received alarming calls warning of bombs, sparking immediate evacuations. Parents were urgently instructed to rush to schools and collect their children.
Some parents got texts or phone calls around 10.30am urging, “Unfortunately, school has to be closed immediately. Please come now to collect your child from the playground. Do not phone school.” No further details were provided. Rumours of bomb threats spread fast as police arrived on scene to investigate.
Chaos as Pupils Flee Without Belongings
In the scramble to get children to safety, some were sent home barefoot and bagless, adding to the chaos. Staff hurried to evacuate classrooms, prioritising speed over belongings.
Police Confirm All Clear After Sweeps
A police spokesperson said:
“All schools made the decision to evacuate pupils and staff. Searches were carried out thoroughly, and all pupils returned to school by 11:30. Police attended as part of the investigation.”
Authorities confirmed the threats were hoaxes and urged calm as investigations continue into who made the false alarms.
