A serious collision has resulted in the closure of the M26 eastbound in Kent between junction 5 of the M25 (for the A21 near Sevenoaks) and junction 2A (near Wrotham Heath). The incident, which occurred earlier today, has led to significant traffic disruption in the area.
Emergency services, including Kent Police, Kent Fire and Rescue Service, South East Coast Ambulance Service, and a land unit from Air Ambulance Kent Surrey Sussex, responded to the scene where a van had left the carriageway.
National Highways Traffic Officers are also present at the scene to assist with traffic management as authorities work to address the situation.
Motorists are advised to follow a diversion route, which involves continuing on the anti-clockwise direction of the M25 for approximately 7 miles to junction 3, then taking the M20 eastbound towards Dover. From there, drivers can use the A20 to reach junction 2A of the M26 or continue eastbound to junction 3 of the M20, where the M26 meets the M20.
Those travelling in the area are urged to allow extra journey time and plan ahead. Re-routing or delaying journeys may be necessary to avoid the impacted route.
