Two arrests made over fatal Tower Hamlets stabbing

Detectives investigating the murder of a man stabbed to death on Saturday, 15 June, have made two arrests as they continue to appeal for information. Detective Chief Inspector Simon Stancombe of the Met’s Homicide and Major Crime Command said: “Despite the two arrests that we have made this weekend, I am keen to hear from anyone who saw two males fleeing the scene on Alton Street where one ran toward the Docklands Light Railway at Langdon Park and the other ran in the opposite direction toward Giraud Street. “I am convinced that a number of people witnessed the incident itself or the immediate aftermath and may have filmed it on their phones. I urge those people to come forward and speak to us or provide their footage.” On Saturday, 15 June, officers arrested a 33-year-old man in Victoria shortly before midnight. At around 5.30pm on Sunday, 16 June a 28-year-old male was arrested in Croydon. Both males were arrested on suspicion of murder. They remain in custody at east London police stations. Police were called by London Ambulance Service [LAS] at 1358hrs on Saturday, 15 June, to reports of an injured man at Alton Street, E14. Detective to reports of an injured man at Alton Street, E14. Officers and LAS attended. At the scene a man, aged 30s, had suffered stab injuries. He was pronounced dead at the scene at 1437hrs. A crime scene has been established. Detective from the Homicide and Major Crime Command investigate. Enquiries are underway to notify next of kin. A post mortem will be scheduled in due course.
