Police in Kent are appealing for witnesses following a robbery at a shop in Gillingham, Kent, which occurred on Friday, February 2, 2024, at approximately 6:30 pm.
According to reports, a male suspect entered the business located on Canterbury Street and proceeded to demand money from the staff while issuing threats. The situation escalated as the suspect assaulted the staff members before fleeing the scene.
Later that same day, law enforcement officers successfully apprehended a suspect believed to be connected to the incident. Tommy Presley, aged 30, from Coopers Road, Gravesend, was subsequently charged with robbery and assault by beating.
Presley has been remanded in custody pending further legal proceedings. He is scheduled to appear at Maidstone Crown Court on Monday, March 4.
Detective Constable Scott Bittlestone of Medway CID commented on the ongoing investigation, stating, “We understand that there were several customers inside the shop who we have not been able to trace at this stage. They may have information which is important to our investigation, and I am urging them to contact our appeal line.”
