Brighton Man Jailed for Child Sex Offence After Second Trial

Jason Lineker, 34, from Mouslecoomb Way, Brighton, has been locked up following a unanimous verdict at Lewes Crown Court.

Jury Delivers Guilty Verdict After Lengthy Trial

The guilty decision came on 27 August after a five-day trial, featuring testimony from witnesses and the victim herself. This was a re-trial after a previous jury deadlocked in November last year, unable to reach a verdict.

Sentenced to Four and a Half Years

On 3 September, Lineker was sentenced to four and a half years behind bars, plus an additional one-year licence on release. He’s been hit with a lifelong registration as a sex offender and slapped with a Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO), crippling any contact with children until further notice.

Victim Praised for Courage

The victim, a young child, was very brave, having to give evidence in two trials as a result of the hung jury outcome in November 2020,” said Detective Constable Angela Harvey from the Brighton Safeguarding Investigations Unit.

Lineker now faces a grim future under close watch as he serves his sentence for these serious offences.
