Violent Predator Yonattan Pineda Found Guilty of Brutal Attacks on Two Women
Yonattan Aroldy Gonzalez Pineda, 33, a drifter with no fixed address, faces justice after a chilling double crime spree. On Friday 26 March, he was found guilty of grievous bodily harm (GBH), false imprisonment, and rape following violent attacks in Southwark and Haringey.
Brutal Bar Attack in Southwark
It all began on 30 November 2019 at a Southwark bar, where Pineda harassed a woman he knew. Despite her clear refusals, he persisted in his unwanted advances. When she and a friend left the bar, Pineda stalked them outside.
Without warning, he viciously assaulted the woman, smashing a glass bottle into her face. The savage attack left her with deep lacerations. Terrified, she fled to a nearby police station and received urgent medical treatment.
Pineda was arrested on 3 December 2019 and charged with grievous bodily harm. He was released on bail ahead of trial.
Horrific House Assault in Haringey
While awaiting trial, Pineda struck again. On 23 June 2020, a woman visiting his West Green Road home was imprisoned, brutally assaulted, and raped. She bravely reported the nightmare to police the next day.
Authorities launched a manhunt and caught Pineda on 4 July 2020. He was charged with rape, false imprisonment, and GBH, remaining in custody ever since.
Justice Served After Gruelling Trial
Pineda denied all charges. But after a two-week trial at Wood Green Crown Court, he was convicted on multiple counts:
- Two counts of grievous bodily harm
- False imprisonment
- Rape
He is set to be sentenced on 28 May 2021.
Police Praise Victims’ Courage and Urge Reporting of Abuse
“Pineda is a highly dangerous individual,” said Detective Constable Myles Bossman of the Met’s North Area Public Protection Team. “He subjected two women he had relationships with to horrific violence and showed no remorse. This verdict sends a strong message: such acts will not be tolerated.”
“I thank the victims for coming forward and supporting the police investigation. I hope this conviction helps them find closure.”
Detective Chief Inspector Naomi Edwards added: “Our unit is dedicated to protecting vulnerable people. This conviction should reassure the community that sexual assault and violence will not be ignored.”
“We encourage all victims or witnesses of sexual violence to trust the police and report crimes. Specially trained officers are here to help.”
“To report abuse, call 101 or report online. In an emergency, always call 999.”
