Leroy Brown Jailed for Horrific Sexual Assault in Blackpool

Victim Threatened, Doused With Water, and Hair Set on Fire

Leroy Brown unleashed a terrifying assault on a woman in her 20s at a South Shore address in Blackpool back in October 2018. During the ordeal, Brown threatened to kill his victim, poured cold water over her, and even tried to set her hair on fire.

12 Years Behind Bars for Rape

Brown, 31, of Albert Road, was found guilty of rape in August. This week, Preston Crown Court sentenced him to 12 years in prison. He must serve at least eight years before parole is considered. On top of that, Brown faces a lifetime restraining order and a sex offender notification requirement for life.

Police Praise Victim’s Bravery, Urge Others to Speak Out

“This was an absolutely terrifying ordeal for the woman involved and I would like to commend her for her courage – she has shown incredible bravery throughout, especially while giving evidence at court,” said Det Con James Ellis of West CID.

“At no stage has Brown shown any remorse for his horrific actions and the sentence handed down reflects the gravity of his offending.”

“I hope that this significant sentence will give others who may have suffered rape or sexual assault the courage to come forward. No matter who you are, how long ago the assault happened, or what took place, our priority is to support you.

We will listen, understand, and guide you through the investigation at your pace, always respecting your wishes.”
