Dad Jailed for Daughter’s Shocking Death After Brutal Injuries
Anthony Miley claimed he had no clue how his baby daughter Ivi Miley suffered her horrific injuries. But a jury didn’t buy it. The 33-year-old was found guilty of causing her death at Chester Crown Court.
Heartbreaking Details of Baby’s Injuries Revealed
Medical experts uncovered a grim truth. Little Ivi, just three months old, had suffered a staggering 53 broken ribs over four separate time periods. She also had three skull fractures sustained less than two days before she died.
Baby Ivi Found Unresponsive After Feeding Attempt
On July 22 last year, Ivi woke up around 3.20am. Miley went downstairs to feed her but said the baby soon turned “floppy.” He told the court he fell asleep for a while before waking and trying to feed her again. When Ivi stopped responding, he called on her mother, Stephanie Shore, who checked on the baby and dialled 999 just before 5am.
Parents Deny Responsibility but Father Sentenced
Emergency crews rushed Ivi to hospital where she was placed in intensive care. The tot was found with brain bleeding, a severe fracture on the back of her head, and both old and fresh rib fractures.
Neither Miley nor Shore could explain the devastating injuries. Both were charged with murder and causing or allowing the death of a child. Stephanie Shore, Ivi’s mother, was acquitted, but Anthony Miley was handed 13 years behind bars for manslaughter.
