Former PE Teacher Denies Child Sex Abuse but Admits Sending Sexual Messages

A former PE teacher has denied multiple counts of sexually abusing two girls and a boy but admitted sending sexual messages to one child under the age of 16.

Bronwen James, 29, from Chippenham, appeared at Salisbury Crown Court today (12 August) for a plea hearing.

James pleaded not guilty to:

  • Six counts of sexual activity with two girls under 16.
  • Four counts of sexual activity with a boy while in a position of trust.
  • One count of engaging in sexual communication with another girl.

She admitted one count of engaging in sexual communication with a girl between 2019 and 2021.

The alleged offences took place between 2019 and 2023 in Titchfield and Fareham (Hampshire), Chippenham (Wiltshire), and Alton (Staffordshire).

Wiltshire Police confirmed James previously taught at Hardenhuish School in Chippenham and Bitterne Park School in Southampton.

She has also been charged with making an indecent category C photograph of a child, for which a plea will be entered at a later date.

Judge Christopher Parker set a trial date for 27 April 2026 at Winchester Crown Court. James remains on conditional bail, with a ban on contacting the alleged victims or having unsupervised contact with anyone under 16.
