A quick-thinking rescue saved a man from a fiery nightmare in Buckland last night.
Kitchen Devoured by Flames
Shortly before midnight, a fierce blaze tore through the kitchen of a second-floor flat in Cherry Blossom Court on Sultan Road. Smoke filled the building, forcing an urgent emergency response.
Firefighters Race to Scene
- Four fire engines from Southsea and Cosham rushed in after the alarm sounded at 11.10pm.
- Two firefighters, kitted out with breathing apparatus, braved the smoke to rescue the trapped man.
“One male was successfully rescued from the flats by two firefighters wearing breathing apparatus,” said a Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson.
Smoke Victim Hospitalised
The man received treatment at the scene before being handed over to paramedics and taken to QA Hospital for smoke inhalation.
The fire completely destroyed the kitchen and left heavy smoke damage throughout the flat. Firefighters had the blaze under control by 12.24am, preventing further destruction.
