Paedophile Keith Clifton’s Sick Abuse Exposed

Keith Clifton, 58, from Horsham, has been nailed for a horrific string of child sex crimes. After a tense two-week trial at Hove Trial Centre, a jury found him guilty on Friday, 23 January, of repeatedly abusing a young girl over many years.

Abuse Began When Victim Was Just Four

Sussex Police revealed Clifton’s sickening abuse began when the victim was only four years old. Shockingly, the abuse escalated to rape on her fifth birthday. The sexual torment continued regularly until she turned 13. Now in her 20s, the brave victim came forward in 2018, sparking a swift police arrest at Clifton’s home. Specialist officers have been supporting her throughout this harrowing process.

Multiple Counts of Rape and Sexual Assault

  • Six counts of rape
  • Three counts of sexual assault by touching
  • Two counts of assault by penetration
  • Two counts of sexual activity with a child
  • One count of causing/inciting a girl under 13 to engage in sexual activity

Some charges remain unresolved due to a hung jury. Clifton is locked up pending sentencing on Monday, 23 February, at Hove Trial Centre.

Police Praise Victim’s Courage, Call on Others to Speak Out

“I cannot commend the victim enough for the incredible strength and courage she has shown. She has helped bring her abuser to justice,” said Detective Sergeant Ellen Jones. DS Jones confirmed the victim continues to get full support from Sussex Police and partners. She called the case complex and distressing but praised the team’s success in removing a dangerous predator from the community. “If you are a victim of sexual offending, no matter how long ago, please report it. We’ll fight to get you the justice you deserve,” she urged.
