Police Called to Disturbance at Flat
Officers raced to a flat on Garrick Road, Worthing at 3.40pm on Saturday, August 19, after reports of a man causing a disturbance and threatening to harm himself.
Standoff Ends With Arrest
On arrival, the man warned police not to enter – threatening both himself and the officers. Negotiations dragged on into the night. A cordon sealed off the flat as officers worked to calm him.
Finally, at 10.50pm, police arrested the man without any injuries reported.
Police Praise Locals’ Patience
“Thankfully no-one was hurt and we’d like to thank the people who live in the area for their patience while we were on scene and speaking with the man,” said Detective Chief Inspector Rachel Carr.
A 30-year-old man is now in custody, charged with a public order offence.
