Police swooped on 57-year-old Phillip Murphy from Selsfield Drive at around 5:50 PM on October 6. Officers responded to reports of criminal behaviour near Western Terrace in Brighton. Murphy is accused of wrecking a bus and exposing himself in public—a shocking combo that left witnesses stunned.
Serious Charges Mount Up
Sussex Police say Murphy didn’t stop there. He reportedly used threatening and abusive language, causing alarm and distress. During his arrest, he even assaulted two emergency workers. The day after the chaos, Murphy faced official charges including criminal damage, indecent exposure, threatening and abusive behaviour, plus assaulting emergency workers.
Court Drama and Bail Conditions
Murphy appeared at Crawley Magistrates’ Court on October 8. Following the hearing, he was granted bail but with strict conditions to follow. His next court date is November 5 at Lewes Crown Court.
