Shock on the Aylesbury Estate as 53-year-old Carmenza Valencia-Trujillo was found dead and unresponsive on March 17. Despite police rushing to the scene in SE17, she was pronounced dead at once.
Man Charged with Murder After Shocking Death
Simon Levey, 40, from Beaufoy Road, Tottenham, has been charged with Carmenza’s murder. Police arrested him on November 20, and he is due to appear via video link at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on November 25.
Levey was initially taken in on April 1 but was released under investigation pending tests. He was slapped with a re-arrest warrant on September 4 as new evidence came to light.
Cause of Death a Mystery, Trial Set for 2026
The post-mortem failed to pinpoint Carmenza’s cause of death, complicating the investigation. Detectives are hard at work piecing the case together. A trial date has now been fixed for June 2026 at the Old Bailey.
Police are calling on anyone with information—especially witnesses or those close to the victim—to step forward and help solve this mystery.
Police and CPS Plead for Public Help
“As the lead for public protection at the Met, one of our main priorities is to better protect women and girls,” said Commander Clair Kelland. “The investigation into Simon Levey is one of great complexity. We urge victims and informants to come forward and speak to us.”
Jaswant Narwal from the Crown Prosecution Service added, “Following an investigation by the Metropolitan Police, the CPS has decided to prosecute Simon Levey for the murder of Carmenza Valencia-Trujillo. He will appear at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on November 25. We remind all that Mr Levey has a right to a fair trial.”
