Brutal Pint Glass Attack Lands Man Behind Bars for Six Years
A 33-year-old man from New Milton has been jailed after a savage assault with a pint glass at a social club. Miguel Navarro Costa, of Andrew Lane, viciously struck a man in his 40s at a Christchurch Road venue on the evening of 17 February 2023. The victim suffered serious facial injuries that needed hospital treatment and stitches.
Court Verdict: Guilty of Wounding With Intent
After a three-day trial at Southampton Crown Court last November, Costa was found guilty of wounding with intent. On Tuesday 10 March 2026, he was sentenced to six years behind bars and hit with a £228 surcharge.
Detective Praises Justice Served in Shocking Attack
Detective Constable Ellie Williams commented on the verdict:
“I am extremely pleased for the victim that justice has now been served. Costa refused to accept responsibility, so it was up to the jury to uncover the truth. This brutal attack could have caused far worse injuries. Thankfully, it didn’t, but the victim must still live with the trauma of that night. I hope this sentence helps him move forward, safe in the knowledge that Costa is locked away and cannot harm anyone else.”
