Zahira Byjaouane, 43, appeared in court accused of murdering her 18-day-old daughter following a tragic fall from a residential property.

Brief Court Appearance

Byjaouane spoke only to confirm her identity during the short hearing at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on Monday. She was not asked to enter a plea.

Waving to family members in the public gallery, she left the dock quietly. The judge ruled the case too serious for magistrates and sent it straight to the Old Bailey.

She is due back at the Central Criminal Court on Wednesday, March 18.

Judge Sets Bail Denial

Judge John Zani told Byjaouane: “This case has to be dealt with at the higher court. It is in custody by reason of the nature of the allegations. Bail does not arise in this court.”

Tragic Incident in Central London

The Metropolitan Police were called to Horseferry Road in Westminster early Saturday morning after reports that a baby girl had fallen from a height.

Despite efforts, the infant was pronounced dead in the hospital. A police cordon was put up at the Peabody Estate building where the tragedy occurred.

Mourners left flowers near the site on Sunday as the community grapples with the loss.
