A murder investigation has been launched after a teenage boy was found with a fatal injury in Islington. Police have identified the victim as 16-year-old Deonte Mowatt-Slater.
Emergency services were called to Courtauld Road at 00:12hrs on Tuesday, 22 October, following reports of a possible collision. Officers and London Ambulance Service (LAS) personnel attended the scene, where they discovered Deonte with a serious injury. Despite the efforts of medics, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
Deonte’s family has been informed of the tragedy and is being supported by specialist officers. A post-mortem examination will be scheduled in the coming days to determine the exact cause of death.
As of now, no arrests have been made. The police are urging anyone with information, footage, or dash-cam recordings related to the incident to come forward. Witnesses can call the Incident Room on 020 8358 0100, dial 101, or post on X @MetCC quoting reference 95/22OCT.
