Teen Murder Shock in Islington: 16-Year-Old Found Dead on Street
Tragic Discovery on Courtauld Road
A murder probe is underway after 16-year-old Deonte Mowatt-Slater was found with fatal injuries in Islington early Tuesday morning. Emergency services were called to Courtauld Road at 12:12am following reports of a possible collision. On arrival, police and paramedics discovered Deonte seriously hurt next to his motorcycle.
Despite frantic efforts by medics, the teenager was pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigation in Its Early Stages
Detective Chief Inspector Neil John, leading the case, said, “We are in the early stage of our investigation. It’s unclear where Deonte sustained his injury, but he was found on Courtauld Road along with his motorcycle. We are working hard to piece together what happened leading to this tragic loss of a young life.”
He urged witnesses or anyone with footage to come forward, adding, “Several crime scenes remain in place while we continue enquiries. I would like to thank local residents for their patience.”
Family Support and Next Steps
- Deonte’s family has been informed and is receiving specialist support.
- A post-mortem exam is planned to determine the exact cause of death.
- No arrests have been made so far.
