Police are appealing for witnesses following an assault in Bethnal Green that left two people with stab injuries

Officers were called at approximately 06:30hrs on Monday, 25 December to reports of a man assaulted in Brick Lane, E1.

London Ambulance Service also attended. The man, aged in his 40s, was taken to hospital for treatment to a stab injury – his condition is not life-threatening. A woman, also aged in her 40s, was also taken to hospital for treatment to a stab injury – she was not seriously injured.

Both people received their injuries following an altercation in Code Street, E1 at around 5.30am

Two men – aged 39 and 42 – were arrested on suspicion of GBH with intent and drug offences. Both have been charged with two counts of GBH and are due to appear at Thames Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday, 27 December.
