Sheffield Street Dealer Busted with Drugs Stash in Associate’s Car
A 21-year-old Sheffield drug dealer has been sentenced to nearly four years behind bars after police found a huge stash of Class A drugs hidden in a mate’s car.
Massive Drug Haul Found in Car
Ali Abdulkader of Vernon Street was handed a 45-month jail term at Sheffield Crown Court on 15 December. The sentence followed his guilty plea to possession with intent to supply Class A drugs.
Back in 2018, officers raided a property on Buckenham Street and the car parked outside it. Inside the vehicle, cops uncovered 146 packets of crack cocaine and 46 heroin wraps. Forensic tests showed Abdulkader’s DNA on the drug wrappings.
More Drugs Dumped During Pursuit
Not long after, police chased Abdulkader, who dumped more heroin and 22 crack cocaine wraps into a bush. His DNA was again found on these packages, sealing the case against him.
Police Praise Victory Over Organised Crime
PC Gareth Webb, from Sheffield’s Tasking Team, said: “When the 21-year-old was arrested, messages on his phone made it clear that he was a prolific street dealer.
“This is a great result. Abdulkader was a known member of an organised crime group dealing Class A drugs right across Burngreave.”
Abdulkader initially denied knowing anything about the drugs but changed his tune once faced with overwhelming evidence. This was his second Class A drug supply conviction, having been caught for similar offences in 2016.
PC Webb added: “It is right that he has been given a custodial sentence and removed from the streets of Sheffield.”
