Suspected Canterbury rapist released on bail
Detectives from the Kent and Essex Serious Crime Directorate detained a 22-year-old man from Gillingham following an incident that took place during the early hours on Sunday 23 June 2019. A woman reported being raped in an alleyway near Stour Street sometime between midnight and 2am on Sunday morning by a man she met on Saturday evening. Officers have been carrying out enquiries, including the review of CCTV and forensic opportunities, in a number of places since the report including Gas Lane, Greyfriars Cottages Road and The Tannery.
