Braintree Murder Shocks Community: Man with “Heart of Gold” Killed at Pub
Beloved Dad and Local Hero Remembered
The family of Scott Gilhooly, 44, have paid a heartfelt tribute after he was tragically murdered at the Swiss Bell pub in Braintree on Sunday, 17 May.
“Scott was many things to so many people,” his family said. “He was a much-loved father, son, brother, uncle and brother-in-law. Scott was community spirited, headstrong and fiercely loyal. He made us laugh every day with his unique sense of humour.”
They added: “Scott was beloved by the local community, thanks to his charity work and fundraising efforts. His death leaves an enormous void in all our lives.”
Suspect Charged, Trial Set
A 23-year-old local man has been charged with Scott’s murder. He is due to appear at Chelmsford Crown Court on 2 November.
Police Urge Public to Help Crack Case
Essex Police continue their investigation into the killing and have stepped up patrols around Braintree. They are urging anyone with information to come forward.
