Three Men Jailed for Brutal Murder of Iron Miah in Tower Hamlets

After a long and intense investigation, justice has finally been served in the murder of Iron Miah. The 2019 shooting outside his Tower Hamlets home left Miah with catastrophic brain injuries, leading to his death two days later.

The Guilty: Sentences Handed Down at Old Bailey

Mohamed Moshaer Ali, Antonio Afflick-McLeod, and Aaron Campbell were convicted of Miah’s murder at the Old Bailey on January 9th. Their sentencing took place in late February.

  • Mohamed Ali, 31, from Dagenham, was handed life with a minimum of 36 years.
  • Antonio Afflick-McLeod, 32, of Ilford, got life with at least 34 years plus extra penalties for drug and firearm offences.
  • Aaron Campbell, 32, from Fulham, received life with a minimum of 31 years.

Behind the Scenes: Cunning Tactics and Crucial Evidence

Detective Chief Inspector David Whellams praised his team’s relentless dedication to securing justice for Miah’s family. The investigation uncovered the trio’s use of disposable phones to dodge cops, and Ali’s attempt to tamper with evidence complicated the trial.

Before the murder, Miah was plagued by threatening messages, heightening his anxiety. On the night he was killed, Miah spoke with Ali before a deadly encounter with men in a Honda Civic. He was shot from behind as he returned home.

Key Clues but Crucial Evidence Still Missing

The firearm and Volkswagen Polo used in the attack remain missing. However, CCTV footage and phone records tied the killers to the crime and sealed their fate in court. The sentencing brings some solace to Miah’s family and the community still reeling from the tragedy.
