Three Devizes Teens Land in Court Over Anti-Social Spree
Knife, Theft and Damage: Youths Face Justice
Three teenagers from Devizes, who cannot be named for legal reasons, appeared at Salisbury Youth Court on Tuesday (24/01). They face multiple charges linked to anti-social behaviour between November 7, 2022, and January 18, 2023.
A 17-year-old boy was found guilty of carrying a knife blade in public and two counts of theft. Two 15-year-olds also faced convictions: one for two counts of threatening language in public and three thefts, the other for causing criminal damage to property valued under £5,000.
Six-Month Youth Orders Issued
All three received six-month referral orders from the Youth Offending Team, a measure aimed at steering them away from further trouble.
Police Call for Community Action
“We’ve seen a worrying rise in youth-related violence,” said Insp Ben Huggins, Devizes sector Policing Inspector. “Our officers act quickly and firmly, but we can’t tackle the problem alone. We need the community and partner agencies on board.”
“I urge parents to educate their children about the consequences of this behaviour. We’re working closely with the Youth Offending Team, but your support is vital.”
