Two Men Jailed After Loaded Gun Found in Wolverhampton Stop
Two men were locked up after police uncovered a loaded firearm during a routine stop in Wolverhampton. Omari Johnson-Thomas, 24, and Tyreique Hislop, 22, were caught when officers pulled over their car near Goldthorn Hill.
Gun Hidden in Carrier Bag on Back Seat
A search of the Skoda revealed a firearm hidden in a carrier bag on the back seat. Forensic tests confirmed the weapon was modified and fully capable of firing.
Ammo and £1,000 Cash Also Seized
Officers also found seven rounds of live ammunition and £1,000 in cash during further searches. Both men were arrested on April 15 and charged shortly after.
Five Years Behind Bars for Both
At Wolverhampton Crown Court on Tuesday, January 27, Johnson-Thomas and Hislop pleaded guilty. Johnson-Thomas admitted possession of the gun, while Hislop admitted possessing both the weapon and ammo. Each was sentenced to five years in prison.
