Tragic Crash: Three-Year-Old Killed After High-Speed M62 Horror

High-Speed Race Ends in Disaster

On 1 July 2018, Israr Muhammed, 41, was hurtling down the westbound M62 near Goole when his Honda’s tyre blew out. The out-of-control car plunged down an embankment and slammed into a tree.

The crash killed Muhammed’s three-year-old son instantly. His wife and seven-year-old daughter suffered life-changing injuries. A third child in the car escaped with minor injuries.

Dangerous Driving and Uninsured Car

Muhammed was driving at terrifying speeds in an uninsured vehicle with a tyre that was 16 years old. Court heard witnesses saw him and another man, Adam Molloy, 29, racing aggressively side-by-side along the motorway.

The three-year-old’s child seat was fitted badly, with the adult seat belt not secured, leaving the boy effectively unrestrained during the crash.

Justice Served: Jail and Bans

Hull Crown Court sentenced Muhammed to four-and-a-half years behind bars. Molloy received the same sentence after a jury found both guilty of causing death and serious injuries by dangerous driving.

Both men are banned from driving for six years and three months, and must pass an extended driving test before hitting the road again.

CPS Warns of Deadly Consequences

Catherine Ainsworth from the CPS said: “Muhammed drove his uninsured, defective vehicle at extremely high speed. That in itself was a highly dangerous act. But to do this while carrying his family, including an unrestrained three-year-old, defies comprehension. This reckless behaviour has caused a family unimaginable pain and tragedy. They’ve paid the ultimate price for the drivers’ criminal actions that day.”

“This case is a stark warning to anyone tempted to engage in lethal behaviour behind the wheel.”
