Hero Cop Dives Into Flaming House to Save Man
Folkestone officers made a daring rescue in the early hours of Monday, 3 May 2021, after reports raised alarm for a man trapped near Swan Lane.
Flames Block the Way, Officers Break Through
Arriving at 12.40am, police quickly spotted a fire roaring inside the property. One officer didn’t hesitate—he climbed through a window, grabbed the man, and tried to get him out. When the door locked tight and flames spread fast, a fellow officer smashed the glass panel, clearing a path to safety.
Neighbours Evacuated, Fire Put Out
Both officers helped evacuate nearby homes while Kent Fire and Rescue tackled the blaze. Thankfully, no serious injuries happened.
Chief Inspector Alice Ames praised the officers: “I would like to praise the immense bravery of the officer who entered this property to save the life of the man inside, and the quick actions of his colleague who helped get both men out.”
“Our officers are often the first at the scene of complex and dangerous incidents and this fire is another example of how they use their courage and professionalism to keep people safe.”
