In a distressing incident following the Raith Rovers’ clash with uk/where/dunfermline/">Dunfermline Athletic, a young fan has fallen victim to a violent beating by a gang in Dunfermline. The attack, which occurred on Tuesday after the Fife derby, has prompted a police investigation.
Footage circulating on social media depicts the 18-year-old Raith Rovers supporter lying on the ground as he is repeatedly kicked by a group. Police received the report after the match, and the victim was taken to the hospital for medical attention.
Police Inspector Neil McGurk condemned the violent behaviour, stating, “This type of behaviour is unacceptable and will not be tolerated.” Authorities are working closely with both clubs, Raith Rovers and Dunfermline Athletic, to identify and apprehend those responsible for the assault.
Reports on social media suggest that the teenager’s hearing aids were damaged during the attack. Dunfermline Athletic fan group Section North West, while clarifying that none of the individuals involved were part of the ultras section at East End Park, issued an apology to the victim. The group also offered to contribute towards the replacement of the damaged hearing device.
The provided image from the social media video captures the alarming nature of the assault. Raith Rovers expressed their commitment to supporting the fan privately and working with the police to identify the offenders. Dunfermline Athletic pledged to collaborate with authorities, condemning all forms of violence and promising to ban any supporters found to have participated from East End Park.
The incident has raised concerns about fan safety and prompted a call for witnesses to come forward. Anyone with information is urged to contact the police on 101.
