Serious Crash on A23: 18-Year-Old Critically Injured
Police are hunting for witnesses after a car slammed into the back of a parked lorry on the A23 at Hickstead last Sunday night.
Collision Details
The Renault Scenic was heading south when it crashed into the stationary HGV parked in a layby around 8.40pm on 18 August.
Victims and Arrest
- The front passenger, an 18-year-old man, suffered serious, life-threatening injuries. He was rushed to Royal Sussex County Hospital in Brighton and remains in critical condition.
- The driver, also 18 and from the local area, escaped with minor injuries but was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving and is now in custody.
- The lorry driver was unhurt.
Appeal for Witnesses
Sergeant Dan Eaton said: “We would like to hear from anyone who saw this serious collision or has any information.”
The A23 was closed for hours as police investigated. Drivers are thanked for their patience.
