IOPC Launches Probe into Met Police Misconduct Over Indecent Exposure Report
The Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) has launched an urgent investigation into whether Metropolitan Police Service (MPS) officers handled a report of indecent exposure properly.
Four Referrals Linked to Shocking Arrest
The probe follows a conduct referral from the Met last night involving two officers. This is connected to four other referrals tied to the arrest of a serving MPS officer suspected of kidnap, murder, and indecent exposure.
Fast Food Flashing Incident Under Scrutiny
The investigation will focus on how the Met responded after a man reportedly exposed himself in a South London fast food joint on 28 February 2021. Two conduct referrals related to the serious kidnap/murder and indecent exposure allegations will remain under local Met investigation, the IOPC confirmed Wednesday.
Ongoing Probes and Police Conduct Questions
The IOPC is also assessing a separate mandatory referral about the Met’s actions after receiving a report that Sarah Everard was missing. Additionally, a fifth referral arrived today concerning police contact with the arrested officer, who was treated in hospital yesterday after a head injury sustained in custody.
The watchdog says it is currently deciding if further action is needed.
