Police Chase Ends in Dramatic Foot Pursuit
On Tuesday morning, 26 October at 9.58am, officers from the Met’s South West Command launched an anti-robbery operation in Mitcham. The drama unfolded when a suspect vehicle refused to stop for police, sparking an authorised high-speed pursuit.
Suspects Flee on Foot, Caught by Officers
The chase ended at Rowan Road, SW16, where the vehicle screeched to a halt and the occupants bolted on foot. After a tense foot chase, police nabbed five males. They are now held on suspicion of robbery, stolen vehicle theft, and possession of offensive weapons.
Weapons and Stolen Goods Seized
Alongside the suspects, officers recovered both weapons and stolen property. Enquiries into the incident are ongoing as the Met looks to piece together the full story.
Officer Injured During Police Vehicle Collision
During the operation, a police officer was hurt in a collision involving a police vehicle. Thankfully, the injuries are not life-threatening, and the officer was rushed to hospital for treatment.
The Met has urged the public to refrain from sharing circulating social media footage of the incident to avoid jeopardising the investigation.
