Outrage as Police Delay Search for Missing Isle of Wight Woman
Anger is mounting over a shocking 36-hour delay in mobilising a search for 22-year-old Rosie, who vanished on the Isle of Wight. Friends and rescue teams say the police ignored an urgent 999 call, leaving precious time wasted while Rosie’s fate hung in the balance.
Last Seen After Partying at Wootton Activity Centre
Rosie was last spotted leaving the Little 1 Activity Centre on New Road, Wootton, on Sunday 23 June, after a night out drinking and arguing with staff. She told neighbours she was heading to the beach — but she never came back.
Concerns grew when Rosie failed to return, prompting staff and friends to alert police. Despite tracking her mobile phone overnight, which stopped pinging around 10am Monday, officers failed to deploy search and rescue teams in time.
Search Teams Furious as Time Wasted
A source close to the search revealed, “People are furious. If the police had acted earlier, Rosie would have had a better chance.” The grim mood deepened as rumours circulate that the search is now considered a recovery operation.
Volunteers from Wight SAR, Ryde Inshore Rescue, and the Coastguard have been combing nearby woodland and coastline for almost 14 hours. The search paused overnight but will resume at first light.
Rosie’s Parents Head to Isle of Wight
Rosie’s parents are travelling from Glasgow to join the desperate search. Police are urging anyone with information to come forward urgently.
