Three Men Arrested Over Deadly Newcastle House Explosion

Three men have been arrested following a horrific house blast in Newcastle that killed seven-year-old Archie York and Jason Laws, a man in his 30s.

Tragedy on Violet Close

The explosion rocked a home on Violet Close in the Benwell and Elswick area last October, leaving the community in shock.

Manslaughter and Drug Charges

Police detained two men in their 30s and one in his 50s on suspicion of two counts of manslaughter. They also face charges related to producing a Class B drug – cannabis.

“A truly tragic incident which resulted in the loss of two lives,” said Detective Chief Inspector Katie Smith, who is spearheading the probe. “Three men have today been arrested in connection with the explosion. Our investigation remains ongoing as we work to uncover exactly what happened.”
