The Ambulance Service alerted police just after 3 a.m. today (Friday, June 17) after a man was found with stabbing wounds on Jutland Street. Officers rushed to the scene following reports of a man in his 40s suffering serious chest injuries.
Lee Dawson Dies After Brutal Stabbing
The victim was identified as 42-year-old Lee Dawson, originally from Preston. He was taken to Royal Preston Hospital but tragically died from his injuries.
Police Launch Murder Probe
Detectives have launched a full investigation, but so far, no arrests have been made. Detective Chief Inspector Mark Haworth-Oates said:
“These are very sad and tragic circumstances. Our thoughts are with Lee’s loved ones at this difficult time. They have our full support and heartfelt sympathies. Our investigation is still in its early stages, but we have a team working to identify and apprehend those responsible.”
If anyone witnessed suspicious activity near Jutland Street around the time of the stabbing, please come forward. CCTV or doorbell footage could be vital.”
“Patrols in the area have been stepped up to reassure the public.”
Family Pay Heartfelt Tribute
Lee’s family described him as a “large and friendly giant” who “lived life to the fullest.” A loved one said:
“Lee loved his children deeply and would do anything for them. He had a strong heart as well as a strong head. He was a friend for life once he became one. He will be sorely missed by his family and friends.”
