Police have arrested two men as part of their investigations: a 41-year-old man arrested on suspicion of possessing a knife and being involved in the production of Class B drugs, and a 46-year-old man arrested on suspicion of being involved in the production of Class B drugs.
They are still being held at this time.
“This is another great piece of work by high harm officers who are developing intelligence daily and taking action to target drug suppliers,” said Inspector Alison Attwood of the High Harm Team.
Behind the scenes, their efforts resulted in the arrests of two men in Portsmouth this week, who have since been charged with drug supply offences and were scheduled to appear in court today.
“We frequently see comments criticising police seizures of cannabis. We can assure you that it is not “just a plant.” The drug trade causes tremendous harm to communities. Children are exploited and drawn into this dirty business, which is frequently linked to serious crime, including knife and weapon offences.” It is our job as the High Harm Team to put a stop to this. We will disrupt supply lines, seize drugs and weapons, prosecute offenders, and ultimately protect the public from the consequences of drug dealing in our community.”
Please continue to report suspicious behaviour and suspected drug dealing in your neighbourhood to police, as the information you provide helps us develop a bigger picture, which leads us to take action and remove drugs from the streets.
Officers are currently on the scene at a property near Little London in Newport after discovering approximately 100 cannabis plants
