Elderly Man with Dementia Rescued After Shocking Library Attack
Earlier this year, an elderly man in his 80s suffering from dementia reported being shoved to the floor and having his wallet stolen at his local library. Alone at home with his dog in Cowes, his situation quickly spiralled into a worrying crisis.
Police Discover Man in Dire Condition
Officers from the Cowes Neighbourhood Policing Team visited the man’s home after the incident. Concerned by what they saw, PCSO Lisa Paul returned repeatedly over the next few days to check on him. During one visit, she found him lying helpless on the floor, unable to move. It’s unclear how long he had been in that state before Lisa called an ambulance.
Hero PCSO Goes Above and Beyond
Though the man initially refused medical help, health care teams visited him the following day after he fainted again, taking him to hospital. Throughout his hospital stay, Lisa stayed in close contact, visiting regularly and showing him videos and photos of his beloved dog to keep his spirits up.
She also stepped in to care for the dog, visiting twice daily and coordinating with local shelters to find a temporary home for the pet just four days after the ordeal began.
Long Road to Recovery and New Beginnings
Lisa’s dedication continued for two weeks, involving close communication with health specialists and the man’s letting agents. Her efforts helped secure a safer home for him and ensured he received the care he needed to recover.
