Met Police Launch Tough Measures at Notting Hill Carnival
The Metropolitan Police have slapped a Section 60 Order across the Notting Hill Carnival zone today, Sunday 26 August. The tough crackdown runs from 9am till midnight, aiming to keep the massive street party safe and under control.
Gold Commander Takes No Chances
Gold Commander Dave Musker, who’s in charge of policing the event, explained the move: “My job is to make sure everyone attending enjoys a safe and spectacular carnival. Given recent violent incidents across London, I’ve authorised this order as an extra precaution.”
He added: “This measure shows our commitment to protecting communities and sends a clear warning to anyone looking to stir trouble that we will hit back hard.”
Section 60: London’s Weapon Against Violence
Section 60 powers let cops stop and search without suspicion, used recently across London to prevent violence. Musker insisted: “We don’t wield this authority lightly. It’s based on detailed intelligence. London is still a safe city, but we’re relentless in targeting those who threaten that safety.”
He promised continuous review of the order: “When I believe it’s no longer needed, it will end.”
