Child Rushed to hospital after being hit by a Van in East Cowes

A school child who was riding a scooter has been taken to hospital after being treated by Paramedics from the Isle of Wight Ambulance Service following a road traffic collision between a pedestrian and a van in East Cowes this afternoon (Friday). The child is understood to have been struck by the moving vehicle on Beatrice Avenue, close to Queensgate Primary School. The collision happened just after the end of the school day at around 3.30pm. Police closed the road for a short time whilst enquiries were made the closure has since been removed. A spokesperson for Hampshire Constabulary has said: “Officers were called at 3.15pm with reports of a collision on Beatrice Avenue, East Cowes. “A van and a child on a scooter were involved. “The child did not suffer life-threatening injuries”.
