Seven Arrested in Warwickshire Traveller Site Raid as Police Seize Suspected Stolen Vehicles

Seven people have been arrested, including one man on suspicion of attempted murder, following a major police operation at a traveller site near Ryton-on-Dunsmore, Warwickshire. Over 100 officers entered Woodside Park in a pre-dawn raid at 5:30 AM on Thursday, 22 May, seizing vehicles and executing multiple warrants.

The raid, part of a planned and intelligence-led operation, was launched in response to ongoing community concerns, according to Warwickshire Police.

Arrests and Charges

  • A 28-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and threats to kill, in connection with an incident in Nuneaton on 9 May.
  • A 30-year-old man and a 17-year-old boy were arrested for theft, linked to an estimated £25,000 in shoplifting.
  • A 39-year-old man was also arrested on suspicion of theft after police discovered suspected stolen goods inside a caravan.
  • A 34-year-old man was arrested on immigration offences.
  • A 52-year-old man was wanted for failing to appear in court over a GBH charge, while a 44-year-old man was detained for failing to appear on drug driving charges.

In addition, several vehicles suspected of being stolen, involved in crime, or with false documents were seized from the site.

Safeguarding Measures

Warwickshire Police confirmed that four individuals identified as potential victims of criminal exploitation have been safeguarded.

“We will not tolerate criminality,” said Chief Superintendent Jon Belcher. “We will use every power and tactic available to pursue and disrupt offenders and protect our communities.”
