Police Appeal for Information Following Attempted Abduction in Chadderton – UKNIP

Authorities in Chadderton, Oldham have launched an urgent appeal for information following reports of an attempted abduction that occurred on Saturday, July 29, 2023, in the vicinity of Rose Street, close to the South Chadderton tram stop, between 21.00 and 22.00 BST.

According to police reports, a woman was walking with her child when they were confronted by an unknown male. The individual allegedly grabbed the child before releasing them and fleeing the scene. Fortunately, the child suffered only minor injuries in the incident.

Adding to the distressing ordeal, the mother also disclosed a similar incident that occurred in the area earlier in July, raising concerns about the safety of residents and visitors in the locality.

As the investigation progresses, officers are keen to speak to a person of interest described as Asian, of medium build, donning dark clothing and dark shoes. The individual was seen wearing a balaclava, with the lower part of his face exposed, and had a Nike tick on his jumper.

In response to the alarming incident, neighbourhood officers have increased patrols in the area, with beat officers and Police Community Support Officers (PCSO’s) closely monitoring the surroundings.

To aid the investigation further, the police are urging anyone with relevant information, doorbell, dashcam, or CCTV footage, to come forward. Authorities are particularly interested in speaking to individuals who were in the area of Rose Street and the South Chadderton tram stop between 21.00 and 22.00 on the day of the incident.

Members of the public can reach out to the police by calling 101 or 0161 856 8999, quoting log number 4018 of 29/07/23. Alternatively, information can be reported online at http:///www.gmp.police.uk. Those who wish to provide information anonymously can do so by contacting the independent charity Crimestoppers at 0800 555 111.
