Paramedic Rapist Preys on Vulnerable Women Over Nearly a Decade
Andrew Wheeler, 46, from Mill Green, Warboys, has been convicted of six sexual offences committed between 2009 and 2018. The chilling case emerged at Peterborough Crown Court after months of hearings that started last December.
Attack During Emergency Call Sparks Investigation
Wheeler was working solo as a paramedic when he responded to an emergency call in September 2018. After reassuring the arriving dual-crew paramedics that he had the situation under control, he took an intoxicated woman from her friend’s home back to her own — where he then raped and sexually assaulted her.
The victim confided in a friend, leading to a swift police response and Wheeler’s arrest the same day.
Multiple Victims Come Forward
Following his arrest, another woman came forward, accusing Wheeler of raping her in 2009 and sexually assaulting her in the back of an ambulance in 2010. Wheeler was also found guilty of two counts of sexual assault involving a girl under 13 between December 2013 and May 2014 — unrelated to his paramedic work.
While the jury cleared him of six other rape charges and couldn’t decide on five additional counts against the same woman, the court found enough evidence to convict him on these serious offences.
Police Speak Out on Wheeler’s Betrayal of Trust
“Andrew Wheeler is a predatory individual whose offending has spanned nearly a decade,” said Detective Chief Superintendent Martin Brunning. “He chose to become a paramedic, giving him access to vulnerable people, making his betrayal even more appalling.”
“He has caused immense suffering. I thank the victims for their bravery and patience throughout this ordeal. I hope this verdict helps them rebuild their lives with justice served.”
“I urge any other victims or those with concerns to come forward — no matter how long ago the abuse happened. Our specialist officers take every allegation seriously and will investigate thoroughly.”
Sentencing Date Set as Police Warn of More Victims
Wheeler remains in custody and will be sentenced on 12 February at Peterborough Crown Court. Police warn there may be other victims who have not yet come forward and encourage anyone with information to call 101 immediately.
